Fairydown a Brief History
Fairydown Bedware is owned by Pacific Brands Limited and trades under the name Pacific Brands Homewares NZ.
Pacific Brands is a marketer of Everyday Essential Brands in Australia and New Zealand including Berlei, Bonds, Clarks, Dunlop, Everlast, Grosby, Holeproof, Hush Puppies, KingGee, Sheridan, Slazenger and Tontine. Fairydown dates back to 1877 and originated in the Kaikorai Valley, Dunedin, New Zealand under a company called Arthur Ellis. The pioneering spirit of both the brand and the company are linked with over 130 years of manufacturing sleeping products. Sir Edmund Hillary and Sherpa Tenzing Norgay used Fairydown sleeping bags at 28,000 feet before they successfully ascended Mt Everest and became the first people to reach the highest point on earth in 1953.
