Product Care
Care Labels
All Fairydown products have a care label attached to their casing. For specific information on the care of your Fairydown product, please refer to this label.
Cotton Covers
We recommend that all duvets are used with a cover slip, preferably a natural fibre cover such as cotton. Cotton duvet covers ensure your duvet remains clean, allow moisture to be released and act as an extra barrier against dust mites. For the same reasons we also recommend that all of our pillows are used with a removable cotton pillow protector.
Wool bedding
Air Regularly
Wool duvets & underlays should be aired before being used on a bed. This will ensure any moisture is eliminated and minimise the natural wool odour that occurs in the product. We recommend that wool products are aired every 4-6 weeks, if possible in direct sunlight. This releases any moisture absorbed during sleep which revitalises the wool fibres within your duvet or underlay.
Dry-clean Only
Unless specifically stated on the product, wool products should be dry-cleaned only. We recommend that wool duvets and underlay’s are dry-cleaned every 12-18 months. It is important to choose a specialist bedding dry-cleaner as incorrect washing of your wool product may lead to shrinkage or cause the wool fibres to matt together.
Feather & Down Bedding
Air Regularly
Regular airing of your feather & down bedding every 4-6 weeks in direct sunlight* will ensure that any moisture absorbed has the opportunity to be fully released. We also recommend that you air your bedding before using it for the first time.
*Please note bedding with coloured fabric casings such as Espresso Blankets should be aired out of direct sunlight to prevent colour fading.
Restore Loft
Feather and down bedding should be shaken regularly to rejuvenate the down clusters and restore loft. An ideal time to do this is when making the bed each day.
Dry-clean Only
We recommend dry-cleaning be undertaken by a reputable dry cleaner every 12-18 months. Dry-cleaning will remove any surfaces stains, but more importantly it will also cleanse the down clusters of any body oils that may inhibit its ability to loft and impair the duvet’s performance.
